How do I set up Juniper Packet slicing in STCLive T&D?

Answer

The packet slicing feature is unique to Juniper Hub/Spoke passive testing in STCLive T&D. The following will guide you through the process of setting up the Juniper Packet slicing feature.

Set the packet slicing defaults in admin
  •    Log in to STCLive T&D as admin (or a user with admin ability)
  •  Go to Admin menu
  •   Select “Ethernet Configuration Settings”
  •  Select “Juniper Packet Slicing”
  •  Enter the byte size for both the “Default Bytes” and “Maximum Bytes”
  •  Select “Update”

Set the user roles / groups

Log in to STCLive T&D as admin (or a user with admin ability)
        Go to Admin menu.
        Select “User Management”
        Select “Group Manager”
Check to make sure that Tier 1 does not have the role of “Juniper Packet Slicing”
Check to make sure that Tier 2 does have the role of “Juniper Packet Slicing”

After making the following configuration changes, the behavior of the access will be as follows:

When a Tier 1 tester makes a passive access on a Juniper, the following rules will apply:

1.      If the CIR is >500M, slicing is enabled.
2.      If the CIR is <500M, slicing is disabled.

When a Tier 2 tester makes a passive access on a Juniper, the following rules will apply:

1.      The same rules above for Tier 1 apply.
2.      The packet slicing section of the passive access dialog window is enabled allowing Tier 2 to override the defaults.
3.      If Tier 2 users chooses to disable packet slicing by entering a packet slicing size of 0 bytes or by clicking on the “Disable” button, then the user is given a popup message reminding them that clipping may occur.
