The SmartBits software is not supported in Windows 7 natively. You can use the Windows XP mode - Windows Virtual PC.
If you are experiencing this issue form Windows Virtual PC you may need to change the networking settings from NAT to bridging. This is accomplished by going to the "Tools" pull down menu from the virtual session and selecting "Settings..".
